The story behind Caimo Ceramic Art
Every piece I create begins with a story. Sometimes it starts with a memory, an emotion, or a place; other times with a conversation or a simple sketch. As a ceramic artist based in Belgium, I turn those stories into handmade ceramics and bespoke ceramic art, made to be treasured for generations. Whether I'm working on a personal sculpture, an architectural piece, or one of my ceramic commissions, my goal as a ceramic artist stays the same: to create work that truly connects with people.
Where It All Began
Creativity has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family where making things by hand was encouraged and celebrated. My father loved drawing and painting, and his curiosity and artistic spirit shaped how I see the world, still today. That sense of freedom never left me, and it's what led me, years later, to become a ceramic artist.
A Home Full of Stories
My own family keeps that inspiration alive. Together with my husband, originally from Cameroon, we're raising our three children in a home where different cultures, stories, and perspectives meet. We love to travel, discover new places, meet people, and learn from traditions that aren't our own. These experiences shape my work quietly but constantly, reminding me that beauty lives in diversity, in craftsmanship, in human connection.
What Clay Means to Me
Nature is one of my greatest sources of inspiration. I believe art can invite reflection, spark conversation, and carry values that matter. Respect for people and for the natural world, equality, feminism, and sometimes a quiet form of activism, all find their way into my work. Not as statements, but as invitations: to pause, to look closer, to find your own meaning in what you see.
Clay, to me, is more than a material. It holds every touch, every decision, every stage of the making before it becomes something lasting. That transformation still fascinates me, and it's at the heart of every piece of handmade ceramics and every bespoke ceramic art creation that comes out of my studio here in Belgium, where I work every day as a ceramic artist.
